So there’s this class called “Being Muslim” that was orginally created to help new converts on their jounrey to truely understanding the basics of Islam.

I’ve found that even born Muslims struggle with the basics, as they’ve forgotten, or simply weren’t taught them. The class runs for about a college semester, and is held every other Friday. There’s a course workbook for whoever is instructing the course, and a website for students to test their knowledge if they so choose. It’s free, and is usually held in an open space where all are welcome.

I’ve been a convert since 2006, and this course has been the CLEAREST and EASIEST learning experience on the technicalities of Islam that I have ever encountered.

I love it. I’ve done it two times in a row, and have learned something completely new each time. The course is being taught in Downtown Detroit near Wayne State University’s campus starting this June. I can’t wait to see how many lives we change this time around! Insha’Allah it will be a great effort for all, and will benefit those who attend.
